Body on Fire: How Inflammation Triggers Chronic Disease
In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Jyothi Rao, co-author of Body on Fire: How Inflammation Triggers Chronic Illness and the Tools We Have to Fight It. She is a strong proponent of holistic medicine, certified in Medical Acupuncture from UCLA,  working out of her practice at the Shakthi Health & Wellness Center.

The title derives from the concept that when the body becomes imbalanced, it becomes irritated and inflamed or a “body on fire.” There is more to healing inflammation than using pharmaceuticals, so they emphasize implementing lifestyle interventions that get to the root of the problem rather than simply treating the symptoms.

In this jam-packed episode, we learn how to assess our own energy, lifestyle, diet, and mental state, as well as discover unique physical and emotional triggers, which are often precursors to illness.

Switching to a plant-based diet, improving your gut bacteria, increasing movement through yoga or exercise, adopting sleep hygiene practices, staying hydrated, and adopting a few mind-body techniques are easy-to-implement lifestyle habits that offer far-reaching benefits, such as enhanced energy, greater flexibility, better digestion,
improved mood, and less or no pain.

This knowledge is empowering and can lead to healing and enduring wellness. Body On Fire is a roadmap to a stronger, healthier, more vital state of being.
