Under his direction, the Cleveland Clinic’s Wellness Programs helped more than 43 percent of hospital employees improve their health. This resulted in the hospital system avoiding more than $1B in healthcare costs for employees and their dependents (compared to national averages), and employees saving more than $250 million in premiums. By leveraging Dr. Mike’s 6 Normals + 2® method, wellness participants reduced their rate of aging and time of disability onset and decreased their sick time by more than 30 percent.

Dr. Mike is a recipient of an Emmy, an Elle, and the Paul Rogers Best Medical Communicator award from the National Library of Medicine. He initiated and developed the RealAge concept to motivate behavior change, which spurred the concept that 60 could be the new 40. Today, Dr. Mike believes near-term medical advances and scientific breakthroughs will create the largest disruptor of our time—longevity. Soon, 90 will be the new 40. Dr. Mike and fellow co-authors describe how to prepare for this Great Age Reboot in their book, The Great Age Reboot.

He is an author of more than 195 peer-reviewed scientific publications (he really is a science nerd!), four New York Times #1 Best Sellers, and nine overall Best Sellers, including his initial #1 Best Seller, RealAge: Are You As Young As You Can Be?AgeProof—Living Longer Without Breaking a Hip or Running Out of Money, and his latest books, What To Eat When: A Strategic Plan To Improve Your Health and Life through Food, and the What To Eat When Cookbook. Dr. Mike’s weekly podcast You: The Owner’s Manual, has aired more than 1,100 episodes, and his daily column is syndicated to more than 100 newspapers throughout the country.

Dr. Mike is devoted to helping people live younger and continues to consult with patients in Cleveland Clinic’s Executive Health and Wellness Programs.

He received his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Harvard’s Beth Israel Hospital.
